Trimming your budget?

Have you ever sat down and really taken a look at your monthly budget? We are doing this now! Trying to figure out ways we can trim our budgets! I made an excel spreadsheet to automatically calculate everything for me. The plan is for the next few months to keep every receipt and track our spending! I know we can trim our grocery budget down but I am not sure how much! With 2 in diapers and baby #3 on the way! Our grocery budget includes toiletries, diapers, wipes, and cleaning supplies. Right now I have us budgeted for $400 in groceries a month. We are going to see if we can trim this down!

Other ideas?! I am thinking about cancelling the cable! Of course I have not brought this up to The Commander yet and when I do I may have a full on mutiny on my hands! I don't know if he can survive without Ghost Hunters and Destination truth! I will probably go through Project Runway and Secret life withdrawls (yes I am a grown women who watches a teeny bopper show), but all in the name of saving money!!

Here is a simple chart to get you started! Add and take away as needed.

Weekly Paycheck 450

  1. We just did this. We realized we were spending $178 on our cell phone bill and almost $600 on food! Yikes. We've cut our grocery bill down to just over $400 and our cell phone back to $100. Phew. Feels good to have the extra money. Check out www.southernsavers.com to match up kroger deals with ads. I like Meijer a lot now that they have their m perks. Oh, learn how to CVS. We get stuff for free from CVS all the time watching their deals. Good luck!!
